Disability advocates scored an important victory when they took the LBJ school to task for failing to include people with disabilities on any of the panels. After a national campaign to rectify the situation, they got one of the prime architects of the ADA on the same panel with Maria Shriver. Now some folks are saying that the situation has re-energized national advocates to amp up their efforts to show that they are part of an ongoing civil rights battle. Members of ADAPT cross the street on their way to the Capitol where they hope more accessibility will happen. In 1993, city of Austin public transportation (like the bus behind them) became 100 percent lift equipped. Front to back are, Heiwa Salovitz, Bob Kafka, Renee Lopez, Mark Cundall, and Gene Rodgers.
