When the La Loteria mural was painted over for the SXSW Music Festival's Impossible Wall project, a beloved art piece was yanked from East Austin. After community uproar, the festival provided the money to pay for the restoration of the art piece and over the last month, community members have come together to help repaint the mural. The new mural will be unveiled at a ceremony on Saturday at 6 p.m. but the project has already started to heal some wounds left from the destruction of a beloved piece of East Austin. Ramon Maldonado has been involved in the recreation.
