When the La Loteria mural was painted over for the SXSW Music Festival's Impossible Wall project, a beloved art piece was yanked from East Austin. After community uproar, the festival provided the money to pay for the restoration of the art piece and over the last month, community members have come together to help repaint the mural. The new mural will be unveiled at a ceremony on Saturday at 6 p.m. but the project has already started to heal some wounds left from the destruction of a beloved piece of East Austin. Mando Martinez is another person who has worked on the mural. This part of the wall depicts an Aztec sun god with names of the artists circling around it.

The Round Rock bar scene is hopping on a recent Friday night. The 2 blocks East of Mays Street, in Round Rock's downtown area, is packed with bars, restaurants and lots of live music. The Brass Tap has live music and beer on tap. Jude Bakeer, left and Stevie-Ray Mejia (cq), right (and yes, I checked his id, his name is Stevie-Ray) enjoy a drink in a cozy setting at The Brass Tap.
